The maple leaves in the Lingnan style of Chinese Brush Painting aren’t quite like the ones we see in the mid-Atlantic states. They’re also different from the delicate, thinner-lobed Japanese maple leaves. So capturing the shape took some un-learning of what I know, or think I know.
A few sins in the composition and the branches were hidden (I hope) by putting this maple in the snow and adding a moon and a couple of distracting birdies.
Happy last day of autumn!
