    Koi and other fish are classic Chinese watercolor subjects. They’re certainly among my favorites. In these two paintings, I paired koi with wisteria, meant to look as though it’s hanging over the water.

  • Taking a Stab at Christmas Cards

    In fall 2017, as Christmas approached, I decided to try my hand at painting something with a holiday/winter theme that I could turn into greeting cards. This little chickadee sits on a pine bough out in the snow. I think he’s wishing I’d painted him a nice woolen scarf and warm boots, too.

  • So Long to a Sweet Kitty

    Mark’s beloved Puss went off to kitty heaven in August 2017. I was inspired to paint a little send-off/sympathy card. In the process, I discovered that a bit of “bloom” on the wet paper created a furry effect.
