Inspired by another painter’s attempts, I recently tried the always-popular sunflower. Who doesn’t love the cheery yellows and big, goofy centers full of seeds? Since many local businesses were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, I used a frame and mat I had on hand so I could give it to a young couple moving into their first shared residence. By including a few extra bees on the mat, I gave the painting a wee sense of humor. Housewarming gift!
