A recent 2-hour class with OAS’ Lorean Weng made use of a set of “Starry Colors”— golds, coppers, and silvers — that I bought awhile back but never opened. Seeing the effect the golds had while painting a plum branch on white paper inspired me to try them on a sheet of dark blue soft shikishi.
But what should I paint? Somehow, carp came to mind. Maybe in the deep recesses of my brain I thought of the silvery, iridescent look of fish scales. Maybe so.
I’m giving this one to my older son and his family. Hope they like it.
